Game Design

Training as a Game Designer for two semesters provides students with a fundamental knowledge of game theory, game design, game critique, game business, business law, marketing, project planning and design basics.

The program places particular emphasis on “proof of fun” and focuses on the production of electronic games across all platforms and in all genres, with a view to a target group. Important parts of training are student projects. As part of a team students own ideas can be realized with help of gained knowledge.

The following is a selection of occupations available to graduates of the Game Design program:

Game Designer: Game Designers offer support for the planning and overall design of computer and video game projects. Their work focuses on concepts, testing and balancing.

Quality Assurance/Testing: Before release, a product runs through a testing phase. In this process possible weak spots, bugs or problems will be detected and resolved.

Level Designer: Level Designers work autonomously and are responsible for designing levels within the game. Working from the concepts at hand, they use modern tools and work in teams to create entire game worlds for their projects.
